Assessment & Reporting

Assessment in every subject is vitally important and provides summative -end of year/module/course grade- and formative -comments on how and what to improve this is normally ongoing and frequent. 

Year 7 & 8 Assessment and Reporting   

  • All target grades are based on GPUTC students achieving outcomes in line with or above the top 20% of similar school nationwide.
  • Targets are generated through KS2 test results and CAT 4 Yr7 results
  • All Yr7’s sit assessments at start of Yr7 in English, Maths, Science, CATS & a reading tests. 
  • The English, Maths & Science assessments are repeated at the end of Yr7 & 8​ to enable GPUTC staff to identify progress and support those who are not making the expected progress.   
  • Written reports are issued three times a year, dates of which are above.
  • Targets for the end of Key Stage 3 will be set in October of Year 7
  • Yr7 & 8 will receive an Attitude to Learning (AtL)​ score twice a year and these are grouped as follows:
    1 – Always meets expectation set out in school criteria​
    2 – Mostly meets expectation set out in school criteria​
    3 – Sometimes meets expectation set out in school criteria ​
    4 – Not yet meeting expectations set out in school criteria

Years 9, 10 & 11

  • At the start of Yr9, most students will already be aware of their MTG Minimum Target Grade-, this is shared at the end of Yr8 and continues into Yrs 9, 10 & Yr11
  • For those new students starting in year 10 a comprehensive assessment using tools such as CATS, FFT and reading scores will help create a target by October of year 9.

    • 1 – Always meets expectation set out in school criteria​

      3 – Sometimes meets expectation set out in school criteria ​
      4 – Not yet meeting expectations set out in school criteria

6th Form

Year 12 & 13 will receive an Attitude to Learning score twice a year (AtL). The AtL options are: ​

1 – Always meets expectation set out in school criteria​
2 – Mostly meets expectation set out in school criteria​
3 – Sometimes meets expectation set out in school criteria ​
4 – Not yet meeting expectations set out in school criteria
