Impartial advice and information about Special Educational Needs Help for parents, children, and young people to navigate through the Special Educational Needs process.
SENDIASS
SENDIASS provides information, advice and support around special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The services are free, impartial, confidential and accurate. The services are for children and young people aged 0 – 25 who have or may have SEND, their parents and carers.
As part of the Children and Families Act 2014 it is a legal requirement that all local authorities ensure children and young people with SEND and their parents have access to a SENDIASS service. As statutory services (ones that must be provided by law) SENDIASS are all funded by the Local Authority (LA). However, they are all expected to be at ‘arm’s length’ of the local authority and to provide impartial information, advice and support.
